Some background

My name is Matt Rosenzweig, and I am a personal trainer working with clients one on one helping with goals that are primarily based around building muscle, losing fat, and developing healthy lifestyle/nutrition habits. I started working in fitness in April of 2018 after leaving a career in finance and have not looked back. Through working with individuals, I have come to realize that, in order to create important and meaningful changes, it is important that people understand the “why” behind some of the decisions being made. Without an understanding of the fundamentals, it is easy to get frustrated with the process. That tends to lead to lack of consistency, turning to quick fixes, and ultimately quitting altogether. If I don’t communicate well, then I am failing as a trainer and coach. This is my attempt to break down some complex topics into smaller, more understandable parts to help you understand the “why” behind some important concepts.

Why My Tug of War?

I came up with this name years ago when I was contemplating my transition from finance to fitness. I was going through a period of time when I was being pulled in a few different directions and I needed to make a decision as to what direction I wanted my life to go. I came to the realization that life is just a series of pushes and pulls, decision after decision, ideally moving us towards a high-quality life and a direction that we as individuals consider progress. Some of those decisions hold much more weight than others. Health and fitness are no different and there are so many directions we can go when working towards a goal, lifestyle change, diet strategy, or workout plan. Many of the forces pushing and pulling us towards certain strategies are just noise and distraction. It is hard to identify the signal in all that noise but developing the ability to do that is the key to long term success.
